Requirements for Letters of Recommendation

Former or current students, who have taken two or more courses with me, and/or colleagues requesting letters of recommendation should first visit and carefully go over information in “Advice on the Etiquette of Requesting Recommendation Letters from Teachers” at http://www.surfturk.com/advancedcomp/etiquette.html

If criteria outlined in the article referenced above has been met, and I have agreed, in person, to write on your behalf, I further require the following of all who seek a letter of endorsement from me at least three weeks in advance of the due date for such a letter:

• All necessary information, including how the letter should be addressed, how and where it should be submitted, and deadlines
• All necessary forms, filled in and signed by applicants
• A current curriculum vita, résumé, or comprehensive list of professional or academic publications, awards and/or notable accomplishments
• Pre-addressed and stamped envelopes for letters that must be submitted by USPS
